Hello, we’re Eden Skills
Schools, colleges, universities and employers use our tailor-made training and consultancy services to help adults who have been recognised as dyslexic or dyspraxic students or employees.
We work with many individuals and organisations to develop an understanding of dyslexia and dyspraxia. We offer advise and recommendations with dyslexia and dyspraxia strategies and offer assistive technology (AT) training. This helps students make best use of the equipment provided through the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and Access to Work (ATW) scheme.
We’ve also developed a postgraduate course for disability practitioners together with South Bank University Adult Learning Literacy Unit (LLU+).
Why we’re different
At the core, we understand the needs of dyslexic and disabled people as Eden is led by two dyslexic people and have people with other disabilities in the team. Unlike many companies, many of our expert trainers are qualified to teach special learning difficulties (SpLD), IT and AT as well as being dyslexic themselves. This means they know how to overcome the blocks that can stop people from learning successfully.
This is vital; studies show that only 33% of students take up the training offered to support them with their AT. The major reason others give for opting out is ‘training was not provided in a format that suited their needs’.
At Eden, we do things differently. Our approach supports disability tutors’ individual learning plans (ILPs) and ensures that students can use their DSA and ATW equipment as independent learners.
Don’t take our word for it
What do students, support tutors and our consultancy clients think about our training? Please take a look at our testimonials page. Here you’ll find feedback from education specialists, psychologists, dyslexia support tutors and – most importantly – the dyslexic people themselves.
Although we’re based in London, our trainers can work with you wherever you are in the UK. Contact us to find out more.
