At Eden, we think training is for life. So we provide IT training that builds students’ confidence with ongoing advice and support. As a dyslexic learner with Eden you get assistive technology that’s right for you and training that will help you use it to learn effectively.

Three reasons to choose Eden

Why do schools, colleges, universities and employers choose Eden to train their dyslexic learners?

  1. Our training helps students become independent, confident learners.
  2. Sessions are tailored to specific needs, focusing on individual learning style.
  3. Eden is run by dyslexic trainers who have successfully to overcome dyslexia with the use of IT and other strategies.

All our trainers have assistive technology experience and dyslexia study skills qualifications recognised by the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) and the UK government.

In our first session, we establish the student’s current level of IT skills — giving them chance to explain their needs in an open discussion. The trainer can then prioritise the student’s requirements and identify the learning methods that will enable the student to make best use of their IT equipment.

Subsequent sessions continue Eden’s holistic approach:

  • Introducing software and study skills
  • Showing how software can be applied to study skills
  • Providing multi-sensory techniques to find the learning method that best suits the student
  • Initiating study skills support and assistive technology training to ensure both can be used together
  • Using the computer and software as tools for developing study skills

By the end of the sessions, the individual should be able to train the trainer on how the specific equipment works. This ensures that the training was successful. If a student would benefit from more training, we make a referral to the initial needs assessor.
